Ready for a memorable experience or to unleash your musical talent? Ed Davis Jazz, affectionately known as "The School House," is San Antonio's new hub for live entertainment and arts education. Inspired by the legendary World Stage in Los Angeles, we're dedicated to providing completely free music and arts instruction for all ages, from young children to adults.
Whether you're looking to learn the drum set or piano, explore vocal performance, dance, music history, or engage in painting and drawing, our center offers basic through advanced instruction. We're a vibrant community space, open 7 days a week, featuring dynamic open mic nights for spoken word, comedy, song, and dance, along with exciting jam sessions and even a Summer Youth Orchestra.
At "The School House," you'll not only hone your skills but also have the unique opportunity to learn from experienced working musicians, college professors, and even occasional celebrity artists. Our goal is to train and equip individuals to become professional musicians, providing a safe and inspiring place to gather, practice, and connect.
Founded by a retired law enforcement veteran with 35 years of community service, this center is a passion project built on the desire to make a significant impact through the arts. While we operate as a sole proprietorship, we're supported by donations and a dedicated volunteer staff, ensuring we can continue offering these incredible programs to the community.
